What Happens to My Flowers After the Wedding? Everything You Need to Know Before Booking
You spend months choosing your wedding flowers.
The colours. The meaning behind each bloom. The bouquet you'll carry through one of the most important days of your life.
Then the wedding is over and you're left wondering:
"What am I supposed to do with them now?"
Many couples don't think about preserving their flowers until after the wedding. By then, time is already working against them.
If you've been asking yourself whether you need to book in advance or if your bouquet will survive the post, you're not alone. Preserve your wedding flowers today. These are some of the most common questions I receive at Earth Tone, and I'm here to reassure you that it doesn't have to feel overwhelming.
Why wedding flowers can feel so difficult to let go of
Your bouquet isn't just a collection of flowers.
It represents the excitement of getting ready. Walking down the aisle. The people you celebrated with. The moments that passed by far too quickly.
It's completely natural to think:
"I don't want to throw this away."
"I wish I could keep this."
"This meant so much to me."
The truth is, your wedding flowers hold memories that deserve to last longer than a few days in a vase. They represent the love, thought, and care that surrounded your wedding day.
It's completely understandable that you'd want to hold onto them.
This is exactly why I do what I do at Earth Tone.
I turn flowers into memories, creating keepsakes to treasure forever. Pieces made to live on your walls, not in a box, so you can reconnect with those moments every day.
What should I do with my flowers after the wedding?
The most important thing is to keep them as fresh as possible.
As soon as you can after your wedding:
- Place your bouquet in clean, fresh water.
- Keep it somewhere cool and out of direct sunlight.
- Avoid leaving it in a warm room or a hot car.
- Get in touch with me if you haven't already booked.
The fresher your flowers arrive, the more colour and detail I can preserve.
That said, they don't need to be perfect.
Each bouquet is handled with love and care, and slight imperfections are all part of the story your flowers tell.
How early should I book flower preservation?
This is one of the questions I'm asked most often.
My recommendation is to book as early as you can.
Many couples reserve their space once they've secured their wedding date, especially during busy wedding seasons.
Booking ahead gives you one less thing to think about. You can enjoy your wedding day knowing your flowers already have a place reserved and will be cared for afterwards.
If your wedding has already happened, please still get in touch.
I always do my best to accommodate last-minute enquiries where possible.
Will my bouquet survive four days in the post?
The honest answer is yes, in most cases, they do.
Many of the bouquets I receive have spent several days in the post and still preserve beautifully.
To give your flowers the best chance:
- Keep them hydrated before packaging.
- Remove any flowers that are already deteriorating.
- Follow the packaging instructions carefully.
- Send them using a tracked service as early in the week as possible.
While fresher flowers often give the best results, you don't need to panic if your bouquet isn't with me immediately.
Your flowers can still become a beautiful keepsake to treasure forever.
What if my flowers aren't perfect?
This is something I want every couple to hear.
Your flowers don't need to be flawless.
A slightly curled petal or a bloom that has softened a little doesn't take away from the memory it holds.
Your wedding wasn't meaningful because everything was perfect.
It was meaningful because it was yours.
The laughter. The happy tears. The people you shared it with. The little moments that passed by too quickly.
That's what your flowers represent.
My role is to pause your florals in time and create something that captures the feeling behind them.
Turning flowers into memories isn't about preserving perfection.
It's about preserving what mattered.
A keepsake you'll look at every day
One of my favourite things to hear from couples is that their frame becomes part of their home.
Not something tucked away.
Not something forgotten.
A piece they'll look at every day.
A reminder of a moment they never wanted to let go of.
That's what flower preservation means to me.
It's comfort.
Connection.
Knowing you didn't have to throw something meaningful away.
You don't have to have all the answers
Many people find me after their wedding day, worrying they've left it too late or wondering if they've done everything correctly.
Please know that you don't need to have all the answers right now.
If preserving your flowers feels important to you, that's reason enough.
I'm here to guide you through the rest, handling your flowers with the same care and attention they deserve. Frequently asked questions
