A Few Soft Moments From May

A Few Soft Moments From May

May felt like one of those months that could have easily passed me by.

The days were full, the weeks seemed to move quickly, and before I knew it, another month was almost over.

But when I look back, it isn't the busy days I remember most.

It's the quieter moments.

The ones that didn't seem important at the time, but somehow stayed with me.

Pressing flowers and slowing down

A lot of May was spent in the studio, pressing flowers and preparing blooms for preservation.

It's a process I've repeated hundreds of times, but it never really feels routine.

Each bouquet arrives with its own story. Each flower asks me to slow down, pay attention, and handle it with care.

I think that's one of the reasons I love flower pressing so much.

It encourages me to work at a gentler pace.

To notice details.

To spend time with something rather than rushing on to the next thing. So much of what I create at Earth Tone starts here

Chasing the evening light

This month also brought some of the most beautiful sunsets.

The kind that makes you stop whatever you're doing and look up.

Soft pink skies. Golden light spilling across the garden. Evenings that seemed to linger a little longer than usual.

Those moments always remind me how much beauty exists in ordinary days if we're willing to notice it.

Pottering in the garden

I've spent a lot of time outside this month.

Nothing particularly exciting.

Just pottering in the garden, checking on flowers, pulling weeds, watching things grow.

It's one of my favourite ways to slow down.

There is something comforting about seeing new growth appear where there was once bare soil.

A reminder that not everything happens all at once.

Seeing new life everywhere

One thing I've loved about May is seeing signs of life appearing in every direction.

Fresh leaves unfolding.

Flowers are beginning to bloom.

Bees are returning to the garden.

The world feels fuller somehow.

It's impossible not to feel inspired by it.

So much of what I create at Earth Tone starts here. Simply paying attention to nature and noticing the small things that might otherwise go unseen.

Time with loved ones

Amongst all of this, there has also been time spent with people I care about.

The conversations over cups of tea.

Shared meals.

The ordinary moments that often end up meaning the most.

They're easy to overlook when they are happening, but when I reflect on a month, they're often the memories that stay with me longest.

What May reminded me

May reminded me that life doesn't always need big milestones to feel meaningful.

Sometimes it's a flower opening in the garden.

A beautiful sunset.

An afternoon spent outside.

A conversation you'll remember long after it's finished.

The moments I treasure most are rarely the loudest ones.

They're usually the quiet ones.

The ones that ask me to slow down and really notice them.

Before June begins, I hope you find a moment to reflect on the small things that stayed with you this month.

And if you've got flowers from a moment that means something to you, I'd be honoured to help turn them into a keepsake to treasure forever. Something handled with love and care, made to live on your walls, not in a box.
